Art World Elegy: Patricia Faure, Instrumental L.A. Art Dealer

This week PATRICIA FAURE, a 80-year-old art dealer and fixture on the Los Angeles art scene died in her sleep of natural causes.

During a career which took her from NICHOLAS WILDER GALLERY to ASHER/FAURE to her own space, Santa Monica’s PATRICIA FAURE GALLERY in 1994, she helped launch a handful of noted artists, including MARGARET NIELSEN a Canadian-born talent known for her lush landscape paintings.

After the jump, Nielsen pays tribute to Faure’s powerful force. “Everything Patty did, she did with STYLE. She lived life on her own terms and she was a true believer in the power of Art. The L.A. art scene would have been a much less colorful world with out her. I was one of the many Artists whose lives were touched by her — she represented my work from 1980 — on.

Her passing leaves a void. We will miss her support — her insights — her advice — her great stories — her humor — her fine art of flirtation — her discerning eye — her charm — her wonderful voice…”
