Video of the Day: Fantastic Mr. Fox Behind-the-Scenes Featurette

In a newly-released featurette, Jason Schwartzman guides us on an educational behind-the-scene’s tour of Wes Anderson’s upcoming animated flick, Fantastic Mr. Fox, which is based on the book by Roald Dahl. (Who knew you had to take 24 shots for every second in the film?) Wouldn’t it be ironic if this children’s book film adaptation ended up trouncing Where the Wild Things Are at the box office? While Anderson is an indie favorite, his film is certainly not creating the same level of hype/expectations.

One good sign: Schwartzman — who also starred in Rushmore and The Darjeeling Limited — recently told MTV that this was his favorite film in the Wes Anderson cannon. (“Well, when the lights first came down and the movie came on, I almost wanted to start crying. That’s how beautiful it was. I couldn’t believe my eyes. It will appeal to the adults in children and the children in adults.”)

Intense. We’re kind of creeped out by how much we love the puppets’ handmade “teeny tiny costumes,” Meryl Streep’s voicework, and the shots of George Clooney recording scenes on a real farm. And we had no idea Bill Murray and Owen Wilson were in the cast. (It might be animated but it is a Wes Anderson movie. We don’t know what we were thinking.)

Fantastic Mr. Fox hits theaters in limited-release on November 13th, and goes wide on Thanksgiving Day.
