Last week we caught up with UK pop artist Mika to talk about his second album,
, which drops in the US today. (You likely remember “Grace Kelly” off of his 2006 debut, Life in Cartoon Motion.) He describes his sophomore effort — which he wrote in a one-room basement studio in London — as “a kind of rock opera about my adolescence.” Check out a few of the tracks currently streaming on his MySpace page, and mark your calendars now: he’ll be touring North America for three weeks in October.
After the jump, watch as Mika talks to Flavorpill producer Mira Leytes about how the Internet launched his career, what it’s like to lose yourself in writing an album, and why his biggest competition these days is himself.
