Photographs of Miniatures Show Off the Expansive Scenery of the American Southwest

Kurt and Edwige Moses’ series Southwest (spotted on Faith is Torment) is a gorgeous collection of images of the iconic settings seen most often in films of the Western genre. Instead of using actual people and vehicles in their shoots, however, the Moses brothers use miniatures, which allow the photographs to accentuate the expansive settings. But the miniatures also serve a practical purpose, as well: “Variables such as weather, humans, insects and animals can be unpredictable and because we share the environment, these variables influence the outcome of the final image.” Check out the collection after the jump.
