Earlier today Jay Reatard unleashed a garage-punk assault on his former bandmates on Twitter; like his live shows, it was both raw and furious. Reatard is meant to be touring this fall to promote Watch Me Fall , with dates starting next week in Seattle. While there’s no word yet on why the band quit or if he’ll look for replacements, what we’re really wondering is this: is this the first time a group has broken up on Twitter?
We’ve got a CD prize pack full of new releases by bands who haven’t broken up yet (The Pains of Being Pure At Heart, Why?, A Place to Bury Strangers, Headlights, Grooms) if you’ve got a better example. [via Stereogum]
