Collages That Transform Photos Into Abstract Color Studies

Share:

These fascinating images are the work of artist Ed Spence, whose work we spotted at Booooooom. The project goes by the name Colour(Dataforms), and they are indeed an exercise in exploring color dynamics — the collages are created by slicing the source images into myriad handmade “pixels,” and then reassembling them into new forms on the basis of their color. The resultant creations are entirely abstract, and yet they seem to retain the mood of the originals. Spence has worked with various iterations of the idea; check out more of his work at his website.
