‘Star Wars’ Characters Invade Thomas Kinkade Paintings

Owning a Thomas Kinkade painting is the middle-aged equivalent of plastering the Starry Night poster all over your college dorm room — it’s been done before. But Jeff Bennett‘s twisted take on Kinkade’s pastoral landscapes, which we spotted on Design Taxi, seamlessly merges the “Painter of Light’s” world with Star Wars. The results are anything but overplayed. Bennett’s War on Kinkade series inserts Stormtroopers and Millenium Falcons into the bucolic, figurine-like settings of Kinkade, forcing you to take a second glance. In some instances, these intruders cause major destruction. In others, they peacefully blend into the landscape. But as someone who’s seen about a million Thomas Kinkade paintings in her lifetime (they are my grandmother’s wall hanging of choice), I can safely say that adding a Stormtrooper here or there would make his world much more interesting to live in.
