Strangely Beautiful Photos of Origami Animal Masks

Share:

Working with origami artist Francesca Lombardi, Giacomo Favilla has created an elegant and slightly eerie series of photos (which we spotted on Photojojo) featuring stoic figures in sculptural, paper masks. The folded artworks add a dramatic touch to the images, capturing a striking play of light and shadow. They’re slightly sinister (David Lynch, is that you under there?), but playful enough to make us want to perfect our origami technique (confession: our crane looks like a turducken, and it’s not cute). See how Favilla captures the strange beauty of human and animal forms in our gallery.
