You could say Sex and the City’s 2004 episode “Splat!” was HBO’s very own interpretation of the “Goodbye to All That” ethos that’s currently all the rage. The big difference is that their version is delightfully bitchy and, as such, worth revisiting. Also worth revisiting is R. Kelly’s sordid and supremely screwed up sexual history, which was brilliantly dissected in The Village Voice. Kelly isn’t the only modern-day Caligula out there, of course, but at least Leonardo DiCaprio’s Wolf of Wall Street character is the fun-loving, self-destructive kind.
