These strangely beautiful photos are the work of North Carolina-based photographer Neil Craver, and they depict his models swimming in the surrounds of a water-filled quarry. The environment is darkly evocative (some of the shots recall the titles to True Blood, actually), an impression heightened by the strange poses in which Craver’s portraits portraits freeze his subjects. But there’s also something vivid and carefree about the images — as the editorial at Feature Shoot, where we spotted these images, points out, the pictures “transcend something beyond the physical and evoke the vertigo of simply letting go.” See more of Craver’s work at his website.
