Gorgeous, Digitally Manipulated X-Ray Photographs of Animals and Flowers

Arie van’t Riet, the Netherlands-based creator of the images below, did not think of himself as an artist; rather, he is a physicist who specializes in radiation and works with low-energy X-rays. But after experimenting in X-ray photography, van’t Riet turned his lens outward to nature, capturing flora and fauna in a particularly stunning fashion. While each image is originally black and white, van’t Riet digitizes and colorizes his photographs, with vibrant, otherworldly results. Check out some of his work (spotted via Feature Shoot) after the jump.
