Thought-Provoking Photos of Israeli Soldiers’ Bedrooms and the Guns They Keep in Them

Share:

On their 18th birthday, young Israeli men and women are required by law to join the military for three years, and each is issued a gun they must keep during their service. British photographer Jasper White takes a look at the inner lives of these young people in his series Young Guns (spotted via Feature Shoot). Rather than taking portraits of the faces of his young subjects, White gained access to their bedrooms, which show a broad picture of who each of these people truly are. In each photo, there’s the stark image of a machine gun casually placed amid what otherwise looks like any other 18-to-22-year-old’s personal space. White leaves us with the opportunity to imagine how normal or extraordinary the lives of his unseen subjects actually are.
