Gender-Bending Portraits of Couples in Domestic Settings

Share:

Montreal-based artist JJ Levine is a bit of a chameleon. The photographer’s intimate portraits of couples in domestic settings were created solely by the artist, who played the role of the man and the woman in each image. Levine’s body of work explores issues of sexuality, self-identity, and gender, but these portraits take on a deeper, more personal tone since Lost at E Minor indicates the artist has long identified as both male and female. See how Levine examines gender constructs through the series Alone Time in our gallery.
