Wonderfully Absurd Family Vacation Photos That Snub Stereotypical Gender Roles

Share:

Art director, performance artist, and photographer Suzanne Heintz, who we first learned of on Lost at E Minor, had a clever comeback to the incessant questions about her romantic life. Instead of settling down and getting married, Heintz decided to create her own nearest and dearest by using mannequins as stand-ins for a husband and child. She took things a step further by dragging her newly invented loved ones to various spots for family vacation-style photos in beautiful locations. The artist also staged shots of everyday activities like sharing a bathroom with her dummy husband and putting her vacant-eyed daughter to sleep at night. See more of Heintz’s absurd family photos that poke fun at stereotypical gender roles in our gallery.
