Spectacular Photos of Star Trails in the Night Sky

The idea of pointing a camera at the night sky and leaving the shutter open for a very long time isn’t exactly a new one, but the results have rarely been as spectacular as these images by photographer Justin Ng, which we spotted via Faith is Torment. The images are clearly digitally enhanced, and the results are more Van Gogh than National Geographic, but unless you’re a stickler of the “Say ‘no’ to Photoshop!” variety, that shouldn’t lessen your enjoyment of them any. If anything, they’re an example of how our technology can be put to use in appreciation of the beauty of nature. Perhaps the most remarkable thing is that they were all taken in Ng’s home country of Singapore, a place more known for its urban hypermodernism than its natural wonders. There’s more of Ng’s work at his website.
