On the list of things the Internet loves, vintage photos and GIFs both rank near the top — making it practically inevitable that someone would think to bring them together. That person is Cari Vander Yacht, an art director who lives in Amsterdam. For her project TGIMGIF (Thank God It’s Monday Graphic Interchange Format), Vander Yacht animates 50-year-old photos found in Portland, OR thrift shops, finding the chaos implicit in banal scenes.
