Alice in Wonderland: The Extended Trailer

The extended trailer for Tim Burton‘s Alice in Wonderland premiered during Spike TV’s Scream Awards on Tuesday night, and it sure is eerie. We catch our first glimpse of the White Queen’s palace and a grinning Cheshire Cat, all through a bizarre mix of live action, animation and stop motion. Burton’s Alice takes Lewis Carroll’s imaginative prose and injects it with CGI-infused ‘roids, the screenwriting skills of Linda Woolverton (The Lion King) and, of course, a heavy helping of the director’s notorious goth hallucinations. Watch it after the jump.

The film, which interprets the story of 19-year-old Alice’s return to Wonderland, stars Australian actress Mia Wasikowska as Alice, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, Anne Hathaway as the kind-hearted White Queen, Alan Rickman as the Caterpillar, Stephen Fry as the Cheshire Cat, and Johnny Depp as the show-stealing Mad Hatter. This is the seventh film Depp and Burton have worked on together.

Alice in Wonderland, which won “Most Anticipated Fantasy Movie” at the Scream Awards, comes to theaters in IMAX & 3D March 2010.
