This Week’s Top 5 TV Moments: So Many Cooks

Share:

There are scores of TV shows out there, with dozens of new episodes each week, not to mention everything you can find on Hulu Plus, Netflix streaming, and HBO Go. How’s a viewer to keep up? To help you sort through all that television has to offer, Flavorwire is compiling the five best moments on TV each week. This time: weirdo comedy and R&B have their respective moments in the sun.

How Many Cooks? Too Many Cooks!

No one does perverse comedy like Adult Swim, and it’s hard to think of a comic bit more perverse than this 12-minute odyssey through sitcom opening sequences, serial killers, and space operas. Coming on the heels of Tim & Eric’s officially condoned Totino’s Pizza Rolls commercial, it’s been a good week for absurdism.

Speaking of Totino’s…

In the brand’s own words: “We asked some of our favorite comedians/TV stars/Cinco salesmen, Tim and Eric, to cook up some products aimed at helping you live that Totino’s life. Everyone is a creator of that pizza life in their own way. That’s why we created the Idea Oven, where your genius ideas go to fun harder.” OK, then! Here’s the 30-second version of the three-minute-long clip. The thought of Totino’s money putting that ad on air truly warms my heart.

Dandy Takes It Off

Fledgling psychopath Dandy “Not a Fruit” Mott had quite a week on American Horror Story. Played by Finn Wittrock, one of the few new additions to an ensemble otherwise composed of old favorites like Evan Peters and Jessica Lange, Dandy graduates from killing Patti LaBelle to killing Matt Bomer, with an American Psycho workout sequence in between. He is, underneath those suits and clown costumes, pretty hot!

Prince Takes the Stage

Chris Rock may not have done much with his SNL hosting gig this week — his monologue was predictably great, but his married-couple routine with Leslie Jones was painfully awful — though he did give audiences one thing: insisting on an uninterrupted, eight-minute block of time for mother-effing Prince to do his thing. Lianne La Havas contributed guest vocals, although Prince’s three-eyed glasses stole the show.

FKA twigs Makes Her Late Night Debut

Lots of R&B on the airwaves this week! Before kicking off her US tour in DC (and returning to New York this weekend), twigs performed “Two Weeks” on Fallon. Unsurprisingly, it’s incredible, right down to the table cloth-ish thing she uses as a prop. Jimmy’s stunned “I’ve never seen anything like that before!” really makes it.
