See Through – All My Things /white/, 2004, C-type Print, 30″ x 36″

Helga Steppan is a Swedish artist who uses photography in combination with installation, moving-image and elements of performance. For her See Through series, Steppan went through her personal belongings and divided them into a full spectrum of color groupings — White, Black, Yellow, Red, Miscellaneous, Blue, Orange, Green, Pink, Grey, Purple, and Brown. (We were thinking of using it as an organizational technique around Flavorpill HQ, and then realized that everything in the office is our trademark orange.)

There’s also a list of things she forgot: Stripy hat, Dress with blue butterflies (Forgot I was wearing it.), Brooch on purple jacket (Never take it of.), Videotapes (3), Cds (5), Big photographs (Too many to be found.), Small photographs (Even more to be found.), Deodorant, Toothpaste, Flower (Too special.), Arrow tape (a strip of) (On the wall after being on bookshelf.), Camera box, Cookbook, Scalpel blades (8 packs), Eye magazines (2), Postcard from Sara, Gold ballerina shoes, Angel (gold) (By my bed.), Perfume (gold).
