Every episode of Inside Amy Schumer deserves to be talked about, but there’s always one segment that rises above the rest and necessitates a little extra conversation. In lieu of recapping full episodes, we’re here to help you with water-cooler conversation by letting you know which sketch was an absolute must-watch.
Maybe it’s because we’ve had two long weeks without new episodes that made this all the more anticipatory, but “Foam” was a slight disappointment. Not bad in the least, but just, well, not as great as plenty of other episodes this season. That said, there was no shortage of laughs last night, from Amy’s flirtation and subsequent break-up with a barista to Amy ending up in a long marriage because she didn’t want to seem arrogant enough to reveal she had a boyfriend while at a party.
One of my favorite sketches from the night was “Princess Amy” in which Amy plays a girl who is soon informed, by Tim Gunn no less, that she’s not a “disgusting, filthy commoner at all” but actually a princess! But her excitement swoon dwindles when she realizes the mess that comes with being a princess — especially marrying her first cousin Gilligan (also played by Schumer). It’s a funny skewering of our obsession with lighthearted fairy tales by going into the unspoken horror behind them (midway through, as she’s expected to have sex with her cousin, Amy reveals that she’s only 14).
