What do you do if you’re just not built for monogamy? asks the new romantic comedy, Sleeping With Other People. Can another serial cheater help you tame your sexscapading ways? New Yorkers Lainey (Alison Brie) and Jake (Jason Sudeikis) set out to discover just that—if they can be reigned in—after they run into each other at the same sex addicts’ meeting.
The rules are that they’re attracted to each other, but are going to keep it platonic because “we just spent the evening talking about how we screw up every sexual relationship,” says Lainey. “We gotta just be friends.” Besides, they’ve already had a one-night-stand back in college. Instead, they go on a series of couple-y adventures around the city: riding the ferry, getting high before going to a kid’s birthday party, drinking out with friends, shopping at Best Buy, hanging out at a pool, and walking in Central Park. Will they end up falling in love? Or, will they end up helping each other evolve? Or both? Or neither? (Though it’s safe to say probably not neither.)
The film also stars Adam Scott, Amanda Peet and Natasha Lyonne, and is directed and written by Leslye Headland (Bachelorette), and produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay. It’ll hit theaters on September 11, 2015.
