Miguel “Genuinely” Believes He Makes “Better Music” than Frank Ocean

Flavorwire’s Jillian Mapes was (along with most other critics) pretty hot on Miguel’s “wildly singular,” recently released album, Wildheart — and so is Miguel. As NME reports, in an interview with The Sunday Times, he was asked about Frank Ocean, and his response pretty explicitly put their albums and artistry in stark competition, with Miguel obviously (and understandably) favoring his own:

I wouldn’t say we were friends. To be completely honest — and no disrespect to anyone — I genuinely believe that I make better music, all the way around.

The reporter allegedly continued to ask Miguel about comparisons between his work and Ocean’s, as well as The Weeknd’s, and he furthered the creation of a rivalry, saying (as though being goaded by producers of some nonexistent reality TV show):

It’s interesting, but we’ll see who’s in it for the long haul. It’s like a marathon, you know?

Can I just say I hope they’re all in it for the long haul?
