The unlikely pairing of Boy George and Jack Black performed one of The Doors’ classics together on Conan last night. They were joined by actual Doors guitarist Robby Krieger for their cover of “Hello, I Love You.” Black hammed it up in usual Black fashion, and Boy George sounded excellent, warbling his way through it in Morrison-esque fashion. The only thing we ask is that late night shows introduce “spontaneous” performances — which are clearly pre-planned — in a new way, that doesn’t presume an audience average age of six.
Death Cab For Cutie were the other musical guests; they showcased their usual brand of morose rock with “The Ghosts of Beverly Drive,” from their latest LP, Kintsugi. See both videos below:
