Hilarious Pop Culture Cross-Stitches From Gallery 1988

Gallery 1988 has done it again. Just when you think the Los Angeles-based, pop culture-infused art gallery has exhausted the potential of clever artwork based on our favorite movies, music, and television, they pull a fast one and change up the medium. Rather than their customary canvases and prints and the like, their latest exhibit, a solo show by artist Oh Sew Nerdy (aka Derek Sanchez-Hoeksema), features work created entirely in… cross-stitch. And though you may be used to seeing said medium quoting Bible verses on Grandma’s wall, these works have a decidedly hipper tilt.
