Punk’s Dead: SLC Punk 2 will see a limited theatrical release in “early 2016,” according to a release from North American distributor Cinedigm, who recently picked it up. The Indiegogo-funded sequel to the ’90s cult classic has been looking for distribution since it was screened for the first time at Cannes in May. The Cinedigm deal also includes streaming and VOD rights, so you can expect to find the film on one screen or another next year.
Punk’s Dead: SLC Punk 2 follows Ross, Heroin Bob’s teenage son, on drug-fueled road trip with his friends to a punk show in Salt Lake City. The film stars Ben Schnetzer, Hannah Marks, Colson Baker (AKA Machine Gun Kelly) and Sarah Clarke. Devon Sawa returns to play Sean from the original SLC Punk.
“We’re thrilled to be bringing this cult favorite sequel to both the original fans of SLC Punk, as well as a whole new audience,” said Cinedigm vice president Yolanda Macias.
Producer XYZ Films also released a new trailer for the film this week. Check it out below. (NFSW)
