A&E to Air Hourlong Special with In-Depth Accounts from Bill Cosby’s Accusers

After New York Magazine published a harrowing cover story that featured the accounts of 35 women accusing Bill Cosby of sexual assault, A&E will be airing a one-hour special that provides another platform for Cosby’s accusers to have their stories heard.

It will also examine the history of the allegations, and the sad fact that the public only started taking them seriously after a joke: the special, according to Rolling Stone , will note how the public decided it wanted to listen not after allegations from his accusers — which became known to the public as early as 2005 — but rather after Hannibal Burress reminded them of the accusations of rape in a routine.

The special is called Cosby: The Women Speak, and will air on September 17 at 9 pm EST. Among the 12 women who’ll be interviewed for the special are Louisa Moritz, Joan Tarshis and Beverly Johnson, and Variety claims that the special will feature accounts from both “new and past accusers.” (There have been over 50 in total.)
