Tom Hanks has secretly been preparing for a new role, which he performed this weekend.
People reports that Girls (and of course Peter Pan Live) star Allison Williams secretly married Ricky Van Veen — a co-founder of CollegeHumor — this weekend. The wedding was attended by Girls co-stars Lena Dunham and Jemima Kirke, as well as Katy Perry, Bruce Springsteen, John Mayer, Seth Meyers, Diane von Furstenberg, Barry Diller, and Mindy Kaling, all of whom cared enough to travel to a Saratoga, Wyoming ranch to watch these exceedingly rich young things tie their power-knot. And it just so happens that Tom Hanks was also in attendance (likely connected by his wife, Rita Wilson, who plays Marnie’s mother on Girls, and who watched from the audience).
Hanks, nice guy that he is, didn’t merely come for the free salmon (or chicken, or, if we’re being economically realistic, swan, or whatever other option may or may not have been offered). It turns out he officiated the wedding, which unfortunately looked more like this than what the above image suggests:
The event was allegedly so clandestine that guests were all flown in to Denver and then driven to an undisclosed location. Here’s Kirke and Kaling, on their way:
