In a simple yet rather brilliant gesture, Father John Misty has covered Ryan Adams’ cover of Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space.” (The latter was released earlier today as part of Adams’ full album of mopey Springsteen-inspired 1989 covers.)
Beneath the Soundcloud clip Father John Misty posted, he dubbed the track his “reinterpretation of the classic Ryan Adams album 1989,” at once doing an impeccable imitation of The Velvet Underground and poking fun at Adams’ seeming intent to masculinize Swift’s pop through acoustic moping.
