Azealia Banks Rages Against the LGBT Community on Social Media

Azealia Banks — already in the news for using the word “faggot” in a conflict with a fellow passenger in an airplane last week — doubled down on her homophobia this weekend, posting a series of unapologetic tweets aimed at her critics on social media, including a particularly violent death-wish of a comment.

It began when Banks posted a text-based Instagram message on Friday: “Sometimes I just want someone to hug me and say, ‘I know it’s hard. You’re going to be okay. Here’s a coffee. And 5 million dollars.'” The photo came with a caption, “I have never felt the pain of not being white the way I’ve felt it since I’ve been a public figure/part of this entertainment industry.” Though the material has been taken down, The Daily Mail captured screenshots of the post and the comments.

The post was taken as Banks’ response to the criticism against her, regarding an altercation at LAX last week in which she called a flight attendant a “fucking faggot”; her own (isolated from this incident, very legitimate) complaint about being a black public figure was disregarded in the comments. But then Banks began hurling verbal violence at user @a_sanctuary_found, who’d responded to her initial post, saying, “Imagine the pain young gay fans feel when they hear the vile things you say.”

“Oh well imagine how I wanna spray a gay man in the face with pepper spray everytime he calls me a bitch a slut or a hoe,” Banks wrote. “Kiss my ass. Goodnight.”

Based on the Daily Mail‘s screenshots, @a_sanctuary_found replied, and Banks’ comments escalated from angry to very ugly:

Keep fucking with me if you fucking want to…One day your [hemorrhoids] are going to burst and you’ll bleed to death bitch…Yea keep trolling for dick on grindr. You’ll be murdered and stuffed under a truck somewhere soon.

On Sunday night, Banks addressed the animosity between her and the greater LGBT community with a slew of tweets. She compared the LGBT community to the KKK and said she felt those offended by her simply need to “toughen up.” (As Billboard points out, the tweet regarding the KKK was taken down, but was screencapped; it read, “LGBT community (GGGG) are like the gay white KKK’s. Get them some pink hoods and unicorns and let them rally down rodeo drive.”)

That was followed by this series of tweets:
