Black Simon and Garfunkel (AKA Questlove and “Captain” Kirk Douglas) are back: last night on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the duo appeared as not-The-Roots to perform a cover of The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face.”
Towards the end of the track, the real Art Garfunkel joined the “band,” and they began humming “The Boxer.” Notably, Garfunkel’s former partner-turned-seeming-nemesis Paul Simon was involved in a similar viral-hopeful appearance on Stephen Colbert’s Late Show. And it now seems like late night television rivals are using surprise appearances by members of the deceptively placid former band as weapons in a very tranquil war.
