Watch: Bill Murray and His Famous Guests Gather for the “Greatest Night in History,” ‘A Very Murray Christmas’

We’ve been hearing for quite a while about Sofia Coppola’s/Netflix’s perplexing but possibly inspired A Very Murray Christmas, and have been doing our best to imagine a Christmas special enchanted by Murray/Coppola’s winningly disenchanted schtick. Now, however, Netflix has released a revealing trailer (which is surprisingly…exuberant), so it’s time to let go of old speculations and simply relish the sight of Bill Murray’s head in a Christmas ornament. (At least, if you’re into Bill Murray, or Christmas ornaments.)

Written by Murray, Coppola and Mitch Glazer and directed by Coppola, it’s described as “an homage to the classic variety show.” And in the trailer itself, Bill Murray claims it’ll go down as “the greatest night in history.” The meta-special follows Murray, who’s hosting a variety show, as he fears that his program will be a bust — and that no one will make it to guest star — due to a terrible snowstorm. But despite the worries of the fictional-Murray, real-life Murray and Coppola have enlisted the talents and/or faces of — here goes — George Clooney, Chris Rock, Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones, Paul Shaffer, Michael Cera, Dimitri Dimitrov, Maya Rudolph, Jason Schwartzman, David Johansen, Jenny Lewis, Phoenix and Miley Cyrus. (And that’s just a selection.)

Set your calendars for the “greatest night in history” on December 4, and watch the trailer below:
