Watch Hot Chip’s ’80s-Saturated Video for Their Cover of “Dancing in the Dark”

Hot Chip is the latest among a long line of musicians (Tina Turner, Tegan and Sara, Kermit the Frog) to perform covers of Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing in the Dark.” As they’re wont to do (usually through the sheer lonely, longing quality of Alexis Taylor’s voice), Hot Chip have brought out the melancholy tones of the original, while frenetically electrifying it (and throwing a bit of LCD Soundsystem into the mix).

They’ve performed their cover in concerts, but today they released a video (directed by Kelly + Victor‘s Keiran Evans) along with the studio version, which sees footage from one such performance woven into clips from 1980s television shows. The cover will be released on the deluxe edition of Hot Chip’s Why Make Sense?, which is coming October 24. Watch the video:
