‘Hannibal’s’ Bryan Fuller to Adapt ‘Amazing Stories’ for NBC

Deadline reports that Universal TV is remaking Steven Spielberg’s 1985 horror/sci-fi/fantasy anthology series Amazing Stories for NBC — and Hannibal’s Bryan Fuller is returning to the network to write and executive produce the project. Taking its name from the 1926 science fiction magazine, the Emmy-winning show dealt with the strange and unusual, featuring appearances by familiar Hollywood faces like John Lithgow, Forrest Whitaker, Danny Devito, Rhea Perlman, Kathy Baker, Patrick Swayze, Christopher Lloyd, and more. Ryan Murphy’s American Horror story helped reinvigorate the anthology format for the small screen, previously made popular by shows like The Twilight Zone. Fuller’s surreal style certainly fits the oddball Amazing Stories vibe. Will the network offer him the freedom to push the show’s dark subject matter to the extreme once more?
