Chance the Rapper Debuts “Angels” in an Energized Performance on ‘Stephen Colbert’

Chance the Rapper stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night with Saba to perform their new song, “Angels”—the first single from Chance’s forthcoming third mixtape.

The new song continues the horn-laden exuberance radiating off Surf, Chance’s album from earlier this year as part of the Donnie Trumpet and the Social Experiment collective.

Before the performance, Colbert interviewed Chance, discussing his habit of releasing music for free (to which Colbert joked, “Not making money is actually a growing business model”), as well as their purported collaboration that many assumed would be the performed song (but Colbert simply sat at his desk, hands folded and wearing a halo).

“Angels” is now available as a free download on iTunes.
