The presidential election is about a year away, which means television screens will soon be saturated with campaign advertisements. One such (fake) ad premiered on Ellen earlier today, featuring Democratic hopeful Bernie Sanders.
Degeneres first sets it up, explaining that Sanders appeared on her talk show back in October as part of the “media blitz” that followed the Democratic Party debate with Sanders, Hilary Clinton, Martin O’Malley, Lincoln Chaffee, and Jim Webb.
“He came out, he danced,” Degeneres says of the fanfare of Sanders’ introduction, before emphasizing. “We didn’t make him, he insisted… I think this whole dancing thing went to his head.” What follows is an amusing reenactment of Drake’s chromatic “Hotline Bling” video, with Sanders’ face superimposed on a dancing figure.
The segment ends with Degeneres playing the instigator: “Hillary, it’s your move.”
