Here’s something that will fill the Mad Men-shaped hole in your heart. News has surfaced that Matthew Weiner will direct a season four episode of Orange Is the New Black. The Hollywood Reporter writes that the Mad Men creator, who is pals with OITNB’s Jenji Kohan, is currently filming the episode and “loving it.”
This is Weiner’s first project after Mad Men and his first time directing a project he didn’t write. “We filmed a huge day on Sunday, and a lot of directors might have been overwhelmed by that, but he wasn’t and he knew exactly what he wanted to do,” OITNB star Laura Prepon told THR. “With a huge cast like ours, when you have a director who knows exactly what they want, it makes everything go a lot smoother. I love Matt — he’s awesome.”
Weiner can add his name to the list of directors who have been featured on the show, including Jodie Foster, Nicole Holofcener, and Allison Anders. No plot details have been revealed so far, but surely someone will drop acid, wear an eyepatch, and cheat on their prison wife.
