The search for the next Han Solo has begun at Lucasfilm and the studio is leaving no stone unturned. The studio needs to find a 20-something actor capable of channeling Harrison Ford for the upcoming Han Solo prequel —codenamed [sighs] “Red Cup”— which is reportedly on track to shoot in 2017 and hit theaters on May 25, 2018.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, best known for 21– and 22 Jump Street, are apparently casting a very wide net for their search. The following list represents some of the actors the directors are reportedly considering:
– Dave Franco (21 Jump Street, Neighbors) – Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Godzilla, Avengers: Age of Ultron) – Miles Teller (Fantastic Four) – Rami Malek (Mr. Robot) – Max Thieriot (Bates Motel) – Chandler Riggs (The Walking Dead) – Landon Liboiron (Hemlock Grove) – Nick Robinson (Jurassic World) – Joshua Sasse (Galavant) – Logan Lerman (The Percy Jackson series) – Leo Howard (Kickin’ it) – Tony Oller (The Purge) – Ansel Elgort (The Fault in Our Stars) – Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction) – Hunter Parrish (Weeds, Hand of God) – Colton Haynes (Arrow)
Based on these names, the next Han Solo has to be 16-35 year-old white dude who has experience as a lead actor and isn’t (currently) playing a comic book character. According to the report, they should also be “funny,” “charming” and should “look at least a little bit like a young Ford.”
So if that sounds like you, maybe just show up at Disney lot and see if they’ll let you read for the part. It couldn’t hurt, right?
