Hello world. We’re currently looking for great editorial apprentices to join our team beginning in early January. So, if you’re feeling “great” and apprentice-like, read on. Here’s what we want: ideally you are a college or grad student (not necessary, but recommended) who is culture-obsessed, sharply critical and funny, with a strong voice. You are a speedy writer and a good multi-tasker, with a bunch of websites and authors whose musings you can’t wait to check out each day. You have a strong interest in and at least a little bit of experience with original reporting. You have past work or internship experience in a related field and are comfortable with generating creative ideas on your own, but are willing to pitch in and write assigned pieces, as well as perform less glamorous tasks like research and transcription. You have at least a basic knowledge of Photoshop and HTML. You’re on Twitter and Tumblr, and familiar with bookmarking sites like Reddit and Digg.
This apprenticeship is paid. To apply, send a resumé, cover letter and short paragraph-length descriptions of your favorite film, book, album, and TV show of the past year to moze@flavorwire.com. Also, if available, please send two samples of related writing. Candidates must be able to work out of our New York office for two full days per week.
