Melissa Joan Hart Is Developing a Docuseries on Her New Family Dessert Shop

Naturally, both the store and show will be called Sweet Harts. Deadline reports that Melissa Joan Hart (more recently from Melissa & Joey, but better known for Sabrina, the Teenage Witch and Clarissa Explains it All ) and her mother Paula will be teaming up with 44 Blue Productions to produce an unscripted series that will follow the Hart family in their attempt to open up a dessert shop.

This project will actually be a do-over of their first attempt; the Harts’ previously owned a candy and frozen yogurt shop in Sherman Oaks, CA, but the business failed due to mismanagement and closed soon after. (The lawsuit against Hart for racial profiling and wrongful termination by a former employee probably didn’t help).

The Harts, along with new business partners, will try again in their hometown of Westport, CT. “I couldn’t be more excited about partnering with Stephanie and the team at 44 Blue” said Melissa Joan Hart. “I knew they’d be the perfect fit to showcase our family’s dream of opening up ‘Sweet Harts’ – they have a great track record of building long-running, meaningful programs.”

Many of Hart’s family members will appear on the series, including her husband, Mark Wilkerson, and her younger sister, Emily Hart (who guest-starred on Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, as well as voiced Sabrina in Sabrina: The Animated Series). Melissa will executive produce with Paula via Hartbreak Films.
