Sia is running the marathon of success. Her last album, 1000 Forms of Fear, helped her break through to the mainstream, wigs and all. It spawned at least two massive hits, thanks in part, probably, to the great videos that accompanied them. She’s moved on from that album cycle (but not its interpretive dancing), and has slowly been releasing tracks from the forthcoming This Is Acting. The latest is “Cheap Thrills.”
The song is the fourth released from that upcoming album, and is basically a club jam. She even says, “I don’t need no money/ as long as I can feel the beat,” so, yeah. This one isn’t on that same motivational tip as “Bird Set Free” or “Alive,” but its production is similar, perhaps indicating that this will be a looser album in the end. Either way, the wigs are still here and the tunes are still pretty great, so Sia probably has another winner on her hands.
Listen to “Cheap Thrills” below. This Is Acting will be released on January 29.
