Obama to Appear in Season Premiere of Seinfeld’s ‘Comedians in Cars’

Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee is an oddity: it’s a web series that people actually watch. To be fair, that’s thanks mostly to its host Jerry Seinfeld and the fact that any famous person over the age of 30 would love to be associated with Jerry Seinfeld, and so is willing to appear on this particular web series. And, as it turns out, that specific group of people also includes President Barack Obama.

The Crackle series, which, as you might have guessed, features comedians in cars getting coffee, will return with its seventh season on December 30, with a premiere that finds Obama riding around and laughing with Seinfeld. They will be in a car, and they will, at some point, drink coffee. The specific car in question is a 1963 Corvette Stingray Split Window Coupe, though the nature of the coffee is not specified.

In a press release, Seinfeld spoke of his time with Obama, likening the experience to his own “personal moonwalk.” Elaborting, he said:

“How did I get here?’ ‘Is this really happening?’ The President’s humor and generosity are the only reasons this was even possible. He was so easy and fun to be with. Being President and just a cool guy to hang out with at the same time made the experience my own personal moonwalk. It was an unforgettable day.”

Other guests in the upcoming season include Will Ferrell, Steve Martin, Garry Shandling, Kathleen Madigan and Sebastian Maniscalco, in descending order of cultural relevance. Watch a trailer for the season below, and ask yourself: what kind of car would I get to ride in if I were famous enough to be Jerry Seinfeld’s friend?
