Surprisingly, Jar Jar Binks only makes a brief cameo.
Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens opened this past weekend to critical acclaim and (unsurprising) box-office success. Despite the faux-controversies and call for boycotts, it’s clear that the franchise has staying power. To celebrate the film’s success — and extend his own relevance — in the only way he knows how, Jimmy Fallon has released a supercut of the previous Star Wars to the tune of the Bee Gees’ 1977 disco hit, “Stayin’ Alive.” Fallon encourages everyone to clap and sing along as Jabba the Hutt, Yoda, and Han Solo lend a grunt or scream in the “ha, ha, ha, ha…” part of the chorus.
This isn’t Fallon’s first foray into Star Wars-themed remixes; previously, Fallon dedicated a segment of the Tonight Show to #StarWarsRaps, the Roots’ bandleader rapped a Chewbacca-centric verse to the tune of the Notorious B.I.G.’s “Big Poppa.”
