LCD Soundsystem Reuniting for Tour, Headlining Coachella

Further proving that no culture is dead forever in the post-millennium era is the news of Coachella’s 2016 lineup, which includes two reuniting (very different) bands as headliners: LCD Soundsystem and Guns N’ Roses. The lineup of the bands is unknown as of yet, but former Guns N’ Roses members Slash and Duff McKagan have hinted at their inclusion via social media. The other headlining act is Calvin Harris, practically a fresh-faced child when compared to the two legacy acts that precede him.

The Indio, California festival will again take up two back-to-back weekends: April 15-17, and April 22-24. The lineup was announced via the festival’s Instagram, which you can see below, but here are some highlights: Ellie Goulding, Sufjan Stevens, Jack Ü, M83, Beach House, Alvvays, Grimes, Sia, Major Lazer, Rancid, Death Grips, Hudson Mohawke, Kamasi Washington, HEALTH, Sheer Mag, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Moon Taxi, Ex Hex, Silversun Pickups, and a few dozen more.

Also big news: LCD Soundsystem plans to tour beyond this headlining gig, if the band’s website is to be believed. (You’ll see, if you look closely, that in the lefthand column it says “2016 tour dates coming soon.”) So much music, and it’s only January 5!
