The Coen Brothers are perhaps America’s finest directing team, and their next, very fine (looking) feature film, Hail Caesar!, is due out in February. We got our first look at the star-packed film late last year, but now we’ve got a second trailer, and it’s … something else.
Mostly, it’s Ralph Fiennes as director Laurence Lorenz schooling one of his young actors in the way of proper movie speak. It’s one of those ceaseless bits that goes on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, for almost three times as long as this sentence, if you can believe it, and it hammers home the Coens’ absurdist take on the mechanics of Hollywood. But, it’s a bit much.
The last few seconds of the clip show us some other stuff, such as glimpses at Jonah Hill and Scarlett Johansson, but no Tilda Swinton this time — and hardly any Clooney! — so what’s the point?
Anyway, the movie, presumably without the extended version of this scene, comes out on February 5, which is very soon. Watch the trailer below.
