Simpsons creator Matt Groening is in talks with Netflix for a new animated series, but Variety reports that the details are still being kept under wraps. “Netflix is understood to be considering a two-season order of 10 episode apiece,” the trade writes. “That could be prompted by the long lead time needed for animation production. A larger episode order upfront would allow Netflix to better amortize the production costs. It’s unclear if an outside production entity is involved with the project.” Groening’s Futurama just finished its run after 15 years. Apart from a guest spot in Portlandia last year, the writer has been fairly quiet. Hopefully we’ll find out a little more information during Netflix’s TCA press tour panel tomorrow, January 17.
