Ever since he made breakfast with the push of a button, Pee-wee Herman has rightfully been associated with the Rube Goldberg Machine. So it’s no surprise that the first teaser/date announcement for the upcoming Neftlix film, Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, is just one long Rube Goldberg Machine, involving a floating chair, rooftop skis, and, terrifyingly, a car.
We’d previously reported news that the Pee-wee film would premiere at SXSW in February, and that’s still true. This is the first we’ve heard of an actual, non-festival screening of the film, so it’s very exciting for all of us who have special memories of Paul Reubens in that pancake makeup and slim gray suit.
The film stars, of course, Reubens, and he’s joined by Joe Manganiello, Alia Shawkat, David Arquette, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Stephanie Beatriz, along with a bunch of other comedy-world all-stars. It’s produced by Judd Apatow and co-written by Paul Rust, one of the co-stars of Apatow’s upcoming Neftlix series LOVE. Broad City-vet John Lee directs and Mark Mothersbaugh pulls music duty.
Watch the short teaser below, and get excited! The film will be available to stream on Netflix on March 18.
