The first season of Netflix’s Marvel series, Daredevil, was dark, gritty, violent, dark, and gritty, and the trailer for the second season promises more of the same. Only, this time, a crewcut badass is in town. And his name is the Punisher.
The Punisher, who has appeared in many films already, will be played this time by Jon Bernthal, who starred as Shane in The Walking Dead and as the Dumb, Mean Guy #2 in Fury . In Daredevil, he seems to be a heavily-armed vigilante who wants to stop the bad guys who allegedly killed his family. He says that Daredevil is a wuss because he only punches people, and The Punisher isn’t a wuss because he shoots people. Really, it looks to be a season of the classic “kill” vs “capture” dilemma that superheroes have faced for more than a century.
The trailer also sees the return of Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, and Rosario Dawson, who also briefly appeared in last year’s excellent Jessica Jones .
Watch the trailer below. It’s labeled as “Part 1,” with “Part 2” apparently coming February 25. All of Daredevil Season 2 will be available on Netflix on March 18.
