Deadline reports that the television adaptation of Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn’s debut novel Sharp Objects will star Amy Adams. The trade writes that UnReal co-creator Marti Noxon will be showrunner and write the pilot script, Wild helmer Jean-Marc Vallée will direct, and Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Sinister) will act as executive producer.

Published in 2006, Sharp Objects follows newspaper journalist Camille Preaker, who returns to her hometown in Missouri to report on the murder of a young girl, and a series of killings and disappearances.

At one point, Fish Tank director Andrea Arnold was attached to a film adaptation of the novel for Pathé, but the project never came about. Adams’ dance card has been full with an adaptation of Steve Martin’s novella Object of Beauty on the horizon. She’ll also return to her role as Lois Lane for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, and will star in the Janis Joplin biopic, Get It While you Can.
