Who is Maria Bamford?
That was the question that seemed to be on everyone’s minds this afternoon as a string of videos was uploaded to Twitter by celebrities, including Sarah Silverman, Tig Notaro, and Adam Pally.
The videos were part of a larger announcement about the premiere date for Maria Bamford’s upcoming Netflix series, Lady Dynamite. After six months of waiting with bated breath following the show’s initial announcement, Netflix subscribers finally have a date to mark in their calendars: all thirteen episodes of the half-hour comedy series will premiere on Netflix on May 20th.
“The story of a woman who loses — and then finds — her s**t” is being executive produced by Bamford, Pam Brady, and Mitch Hurwitz — the creator of Arrested Development (on which Bamford has also appeared a couple of times). Along with guest spots from the friends that helped Bamford announce the show’s premiere date, the series will also feature appearances from Patton Oswalt, Ana Gasteyer, Jenny Slate, June Diane Raphael, Mira Sorvino, Brandon Routh, and Dean Cain.
