M.I.A is not one to shy from controversy. In fact, she’s often one to start it, whether by ordering truffle fries or flipping the bird during the halftime performance of the Super Bowl. It’s the latter act that’s informed her newish track “Boom ADD,” which is just a meatier version of her previously released “Boom Skit” from her 2013 album Matangi.
The track begins with a recording of a conversation had (presumably) between a lawyer and Mathangi Arulpragasam, discussing the amount of income that the NFL could potentially penalize her for damaging their brand. That lawsuit was actually settled in 2014, but, you know, milk a controversy for all it’s worth, especially if it results in a song as bangin’ as “Boom ADD.”
